Pregnancy: Identify The Early Signs

So, you suspect you may be pregnant. 

The proof is in the pregnancy test. But even before you miss a period, you might suspect — or hope — that you’re pregnant. Know the first signs and symptoms of pregnancy and why they occur.

The most common early signs and symptoms of pregnancy might include:

  • Missed period
  • Breast tenderness
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Frequent urination
  • Changes in smell and taste
  • Constipation

Other less obvious signs and symptoms of pregnancy that you might experience include:

  • Moodiness
  • Bloating
  • Light spotting
  • Cramping
  • Constipation
  • Food aversions
  • Nasal congestion

While many of these symptoms are commonly experienced, it is not exclusive to pregnancy. Some are indications of an impending illnesses or signs that your period is about to start. Similarly, you can be pregnant without experiencing many of these symptoms.

There are several ways to verify if you are pregnant. Other than home pregnancy tests kits, you may consult your health care provider and undergo assessments or a blood test for more accurate results. The earlier you confirm your pregnancy, the sooner you can start prenatal care.

Once your pregnancy has been established, your health care provider will work out the baby’s expected birth date. Consult your health care provider to understand the necessary antenatal care for a healthy pregnancy.
